    Job Description & Qualifications

    Job Summary

    Responsible for the manufacturing capital expenditure (CAPEX) and equipment reliability strategies for all fabricating operations within HD Supply.  This includes developing, justifying, and presenting the yearly capital plan in accordance with asset replacement, volume growth, and New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives.  Plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance and repair of manufacturing and facilities assets.  Provide technical leadership on engineering/reliability issues affecting day-to-day operations, including training technicians to provide troubleshooting capability to the Distribution and Property Service Teams 

     

    Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

    • Accountable for Planning / Execution of yearly CAPEX Plan/Budget, Maintenance/Engineering design for reliability
    • Leads Kaizen activities by planning and coordinating continuous improvement teams to effectively reduce downtime and transfer technical skills within an overall planned (PM) and autonomous (AM) maintenance strategy.
    • Develops site reliability metrics for all Rigid Thermoforming (RTF), Printing, and FAB Product Category equipment, including execution of the daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, Planned Maintenance schedule for all MFG Sites and their respective equipment.
    • Manages third-party contractors as needed including outside vendors, consultants and contractors, as related to fabrication and facilities equipment. Develops support agreements and manages Contract Maintenance activities for MFG Site networks as required to support the business.

    • Develops, implements, and monitors Technical Standard Operating Policies and Procedures for reliability to support and horizontally deploy Standard Operating Procedures and PM’s to all RTF/FAB shops within the FM Division.

    • Develops Technicians and Operators on how to read and utilize mechanical and electrical drawings and improve troubleshooting skill sets to ensure equipment reliability and a cost effective, sustainable manufacturing system.

    • Works with Marketing, Purchasing, and Merchandizing, or Co-packers to develop, design, test and commercialize changes to product or product packaging including but not limited to rigid, flexible and corrugated packaging.

    • Utilizes Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to monitor and control R&M departmental costs, including but not limited to labor and overtime and uses data to prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

    • Solutions require analysis and investigation.
    • Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles and practical experience.
    • Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff.

    Work Environment

    • Most of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8 - 20 pounds).
    • Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, fumes, or odors.
    • Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.

    Education 

    • Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 7+ years experience in related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

    • 5+ years Maintenance and/or Engineering experience in a manufacturing setting.

    • Process Improvement experience (Lean & Six Sigma)

    • Knowledge of maintenance practices and the disciplines of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic principles and theories and the operation and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and systems.
    • Knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Structural and Civil drawing documentation including generating, modifying and reviewing facility and utility designs and plans.
