Job Description & Qualifications

Job Summary

Responsible for the daily functions of the Government Contact Center staff that includes but is not limited to delegation of work assignments, scheduling, performance appraisals, corrective actions and training. Ensure compliance with non-government negotiated contracts such as US Communities. Assist with institutional vendor relationships, securing cost information and applying appropriate margins to RFQs.


Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Supervises the performance of government contact center associates and recognizes, trains, coaches, counsels, and takes corrective action when warranted.
  • Works with customers on RFQs, vendor negotiation of special pricing, and drop-ships when appropriate to secure bids.
  • Ensures that customer service is provided including answering inquiries, providing customers with information, and resolving routine to complex problems. Insures the center resolves all outstanding issues.
  • Creates and maintains standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with government standards. Utilizes government documentation requirements for complex orders, such as import/export and freight forwarding.
  • Identifies and supports process changes and improvements in order to maximize center efficiency and service levels. Suggests structure and operational improvements as needed to increase department efficiency.
  • Ensures department is knowledgeable and diligent as it relates to compliance with federal and state rules and regulations. Works with other departments on inter-related functions for compliance related procedures and issues.
  • Establishes processes and procedures for interacting with government entities. Works cross-functionally with vendors and other parties to move product to the government customers.
  • Participates in and develops special initiatives in support of government sales.

  • Experience provides solutions.
  • Ensure that work is performed consistently with HD Supply policies and procedures.
  • Leads a group or team of support, craft, or lower level professional associates.

Work Environment 

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Must be eighteen years of age
  • Must pass the Drug Test
  • Must pass the Background Check
  • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable

Education and Experience 

  • Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 5+ years experience in related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Prior experience with government contracting and purchasing requirements.
  • Experience with process improvement.
