    Job Description & Qualifications

    Job Summary

    Responsible for working with customers and cross-functional teams to build, execute, and measure best in class user experience across HDS website, mobile app, and tablet. Focus on ecommerce website, mobile app, and tablets, driving the definition and execution of user experience product plans from vision, requirements, and initial design through market launch and rollout to production.

    Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

    • Designs and conducts usability tests using data-driven methods, analyzing data and communicating findings back to the team.
    • Conducts on-site and field research with end-users to facilitate design and development of web-based and similar software products, including mobile and web console devices. Speaks with end customers and team members in other departments on how to enhance the user experience roadmap. Documents necessary roadmap, execution, measurement, and interviews.
    • Conducts competitor analyses and ties optimal offerings to roadmap. Executes user experience feature roadmap by working with product development team.
    • Creates reports and presentations which highlight results from testing to team members and key stakeholders.
    • Works with usability designers and developers to provide feedback and refine user experiences across the entire product development process.
    • Initiates and oversees the work stream of user experience product features throughout their lifecycle, from strategic definition to end-of-life planning. Works with design, product management, product development and QA teams to deliver high-quality products.
    • May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc

    Nature and Scope

    • Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.
    • Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual complex problems or issues. Work review typically involves periodic review of output by supervisor and/or direct "customers" of the process.
    • May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support personnel or professional personnel.

    Work Environment

    • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
    • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about.
    • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

    Education and Experience

    • Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline.  Generally 5-8 years of experience in related field OR MS/MA and generally 3

As the User Experience Design Lead, you will define and drive the future of design at HD Supply. By combining your strategic vision, strong customer insights and creativity, you’ll push the user experience boundaries to create a world-class eCommerce platform and lead creative explorations that evolve the HD Supply brand. In this role, you’ll guide research and design processes, hire and mentor talented design and usability experts, and collaborate with leaders from the product and development teams to create simple, enjoyable, and compelling user experiences across desktop and mobile platforms. All of this, in an associate and customer focused environment that embraces design thinking.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Provide design leadership, direction and mentorship across UX, product, marketing and technology teams
    • Lead creative and holistic thinking across product releases, platforms and devices
    • Conceptualize and share new ideas for evolving our eCommerce design system
    • Contribute to the documentation and publishing of our UX design style guide
    • Implement culture and principles within the group, while raising the bar for design standards and process excellence.
    • Facilitate design thinking / human centered design workshops and ideation sessions with UX and cross functional teams
    • Ensure overall quality of solutions throughout the design process

    Education and Experience

    • A liberal arts background or equivalent with evidence of breadth and performance
    • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline
    • At least 7 years of professional design experience
    • A comprehensive design portfolio with examples of helping evolve a global brand at scale

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor or Master’s degree in design or human factors
    • 5+ years of experience in B2B eCommerce experience including WebSphere Commerce and Commerce Composer
    • Development experience with HTML 5/CSS 3, JavaScript, responsive web and mobile apps a plus
    • Experience with Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Oracle Maxymiser and Adobe Target
    • Experience with Axure and Photoshop or similar
