Job Description & Qualifications

Job Summary

Responsible for managing strategic and tactical elements for a range of HD Supply events, including branch open houses, corporate events, executive leadership and board of directors meetings, and domestic and international customer appreciation trips, etc. Act as a project manager throughout the entire planning process, including ROI post-event surveys and ROI analysis.

 

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Creates and manages planning for small- and large-scale events by capturing comprehensive event requirements from internal clients and translating into tactical plans.
  • Defines and manages the tactical event elements in tandem with the business and or functional client which may include budget management; site selection and hotel contracting; vendor assessment, selection, negotiation and management; and tracking, revising, and reconciliation for revenue collection.
  • Oversees quality assurance processes for event components to ensure compliance with defined strategies, requirements and budget.
  • Develops and drives major task project milestones and ongoing project management schedules. Tracks and reports on key event status metrics throughout the event lifecycle.
  • Acts as a key contributor in developing best practices in event marketing process and performance monitoring.
  • Engages and interfaces with key stakeholders across the enterprise to ensure goal alignment for corporate events.
  • Creates and maintains corporate events calendar.

Nature and Scope

  • Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems. Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.
  • Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to results expected. Determines and develops approach to solutions. Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.
  • May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc. Contributes to employees professional development but does not have hiring or firing authority.

Work Environment

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about.
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be eighteen years of age
  • Must pass the Drug Test
  • Must pass the Background Check
  • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable

Education and Experience 

  • Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 5-8 years of experience in related field; certification is required in some areas OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in related field. Certification is required in some areas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong experience in managing corporate events. Certified Meeting Planner Certification.
  • Experience managing a range of event budgets from $1K to $1M.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
